High-end fashion comes to Stokesley’s Classics on Show 2023 which will be held on Saturday, June 17 when a ‘Gucci Edition’ 1973 AMC Hornet V8 – one of only two, thought to be in existence in Britain – takes to the town’s Showfield.
The ‘designer’ sedan station wagon is the proud possession of a classics’ enthusiast from Norton, Stockton and is replete with the signature ‘Gucci’ upholstery and the original headlining material, complete with the famed Italian fashion house’s double G embroidery.
This is a rare vehicle indeed with Gucci having partnered up with lowly AMC to offer a unique designer edition, only available on the Sportabout body style. Though the 5-door Hornet was one of AMC’s most popular models, the pragmatic little wagon hardly seemed a likely candidate for the glamour treatment, but that’s exactly what happened, and the Teesside enthusiast now owns a piece of American motoring history which Classics on Show visitors can view.
The ’Gucci Edition’ sedan station wagon will be among over 500 classic cars, commercial vehicles, motorbikes, and camper vans, at the show and is likely to win admiring glances.
Classics on Show 2023 is free to enter for exhibitors, though donations are welcomed. Visitors pay £7.50 each or £20 for a family ticket for two adults and two children, and £4 for school age children (under 16) while auto jumble traders pay £20 for a standard pitch. Funds raised from this year’s show will go to Headlight, the Hutton Rudby-based charity working with bereaved families, Blood Bikes, Childline and other local Rotary charities.
