A 1980 Ford Anglico emergency fire tender believed to be one of only two of its kind left in the country is to go on display at Classics on Show 2025.

Owned by ex-mechanic and fire service officer Colin Thomson-O’Connor of Richmond, the Ford A0610 fully equipped tender is expected to be a headline show attraction.

The tender was originally stationed at the retained Newton Steward station in Scotland seeing service with the Dumfries and Galloway brigade until 1993 before being designated as a support unit, retired out of service in 1994 and being bought by Colin.

Expected to be a big draw for adults and kids alike, Colin is planning tours of the tender for visitors and hopes he may even get some clues as to where the ‘sister’ tender to his now is.

“We have been looking for the other version but have failed to find it – it could be laid up in someone’s barn somewhere and you never know, someone may be able to help us solve the mystery. I am looking forward to showing it, particularly to kids, who really love to get inside the cab,” he said.
