What we collect and why
- Emails and messages. If you email stokesleyrc@gmail.com, we keep your message and your address so we can reply, and for as long as we need them to run the show.
- Exhibitor registration. Registration is taken on an online event portal run through ClubRunner, and card payments are handled by PayPal. The details you give there are collected by those services under their own privacy policies. The organisers receive the entry details they need to run the show.
- Comments. Some news posts allow comments. If you comment, we store your name, email address, comment and IP address, to show the comment and to help block spam.
- Website statistics. See the next section.
Website statistics
We count how many people use the site, and which pages they read, so we can improve it. We use two tools.
- Umami is a privacy-friendly tool. It does not use cookies and does not collect personal information that identifies you.
- Google Analytics uses cookies to count visits and see how people move around the site. The Google tag loads on every page, but until you choose Accept it is set to a restricted mode: it sets no cookies and does not remember you between visits, although Google still receives the request your browser makes to load it, including your IP address. If you choose Accept, Google Analytics sets cookies and records how you use the site. If you choose Decline, it stays in restricted mode. You can change your choice at any time using Cookie settings at the bottom of any page.
Cookies
Apart from the Google Analytics cookies described above, which are only set if you accept them, this site uses only the cookies it needs to work. Content embedded from other websites, such as social media, may set its own cookies.
Google services
This site loads fonts from Google Fonts and may load other scripts from Google, for example Google Maps. When your browser fetches these, your IP address is sent to Google.
How long we keep information
How long messages, registration details and comments are kept: more information to come soon.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to see the information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, and object to or restrict how we use it. To do so, email stokesleyrc@gmail.com. If you are unhappy with how your information is handled, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
